These are starting points. Always test-burn to confirm full melt pool within 2-3 hours without mushrooming or tunneling.
Container diameter drives wick size — the flame has to pull heat all the way to the glass wall before the candle forms a memory ring on its first burn. Under-sized wicks tunnel; over-sized wicks smoke and mushroom.
Soy’s lower melt point means it needs a slightly larger wick than paraffin of the same diameter. Heavy fragrance loads (above 6%) also ask for one size up because the oil slows the wax’s capillary action.
Pick a size from the diameter band, then +1 step for soy wax and another +1 step for fragrance loads above 6%.
